Getac has introduced Getac Assist, a fully rugged remote expert solution designed to aid field-based workers and teams in rugged industries by offering advanced capabilities in knowledge transfer, remote guidance, inspection, training, safety, and compliance.
With Getac Assist, remote workers can utilise the innovative Getac Assist Camera to stream live video from the worksite, accessible securely via Getac’s dedicated browser-based software platform. Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from around the globe can log into the platform to provide real-time annotations on videos and screenshots from the live stream, share documents, collaborate with other SMEs, and guide on-site workers through complex tasks. This not only enhances first-time fix rates but also minimises downtime, lowers support costs, and boosts overall operational efficiency across remote teams.
The new Getac Assist Camera is lightweight and highly adaptable. Unlike traditional remote assistance tools that rely on headsets, it can be worn on the body or mounted independently using a variety of secure mounting options. This setup provides a more stable video stream and allows workers to maintain clear vision, improving situational awareness and safety.
The camera is equipped with both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE for seamless connectivity and offers up to 10 hours of battery life per charge, allowing for prolonged uninterrupted use. Like all Getac rugged devices, the Assist Camera is built to withstand harsh environments. It operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +50°C and can be stored between -40°C and +71°C. In addition, it meets IP67 and MIL-STD-810H standards and can resist drops from six feet.
When connected to Getac’s purpose-built Assist software, remote workers can collaborate with SMEs as though they were standing alongside them. The secure browser-based platform facilitates communication by enabling SMEs to view live video, share documents, annotate screenshots, chat live with colleagues, record sessions, and more. It also includes object recognition and AI-powered redaction, which can automatically obscure sensitive information, such as faces and vehicle number plates, in videos and images.
“Getac Assist sets a new benchmark for remote assistance solutions in rugged industries,” said Amanda Ward, EMEA Senior Director, Technology & Services at Getac. “Even in challenging work environments and adverse weather conditions, it enables field workers to seamlessly connect with SMEs around the world and get the assistance they need to achieve those all-important first-time fix rates. Doing so transforms both service call performance and customer satisfaction, providing a reliable advanced platform that adapts to the unique demands of rugged field operations.”
