Taoglas recently introduced AntJack, a high-efficiency Wi-Fi antenna designed to mount directly onto a standard RJ45 Ethernet connector. The new FXM100 Wi-Fi antenna can be fitted onto Taoglas’ TMJG4926HENL or any standard 1×1 RJ45 connector, offering a compact, dual-purpose solution that gives designers greater flexibility in layout while enhancing wireless coverage across the 2. GHz, 5.8GHz, and 7.1GHz frequency bands.
By integrating the antenna with the Ethernet jack, valuable space on the PCB is freed up, and the jack itself serves as the antenna’s ground plane, improving wireless performance. The omnidirectional dipole FXM100 antenna supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, and is suitable for applications such as industrial robotics and test and measurement systems.
AntJack is particularly advantageous for complex MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) designs, where antenna positioning is critical, especially in constrained spaces within 4×4 or 8×8 MIMO configurations. Designers also face challenges related to interference and signal distortion when antennas are placed near metal components, which this solution helps to mitigate.
“The FXM100 Wi-Fi antenna is a great example of our focus on innovation and solving tough customer challenges, like designing antennas for metal surfaces and awkward layouts,” said Olivier Robin, COO at Taoglas. “Our antennas give customers better performance with more flexibility, making it easier to add wireless technology to their devices.”
Key features and benefits:
- Wideband coverage: High efficiency across 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz, and 7.1GHz frequency bands
- Compact design: Measuring just 26.6 x 15.6 x 13.1mm with customisable cable and connector options
- Easy installation: “Peel and stick” mounting, manufactured using flexible PCB material with adhesive conductive foam
The FXM100 is now available through Taoglas and its distribution partners. While it is sold as a standalone Wi-Fi antenna, it can also be paired with Taoglas’ magnetic connectors and premium Ethernet cables to help optimise bill of materials (BOM) costs. Furthermore, the antenna can be adapted to suit any RJ45 connector size, including 1×2, 2×2, and MxN configurations.
