SEALSQ recently announced a strategic partnership with Bharat Pi, an IoT hardware design firm, to launch a new IoT development board. The board will feature SEALSQ’s VaultIC292 chip, pre-provisioned with Matter-compliant certificates. This collaboration aims to establish a new benchmark for rapid prototyping with robust security for the expanding smart home and Industrial IoT markets.
The newly developed IoT board, which is being considered for several Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects, is designed to support devices using the Matter protocol. Matter is a unifying industry standard that ensures seamless, secure connectivity across a range of IoT devices for both residential and industrial use. By incorporating SEALSQ’s VaultIC292 secure element, the board provides advanced data protection and guarantees device integrity, meeting the stringent security requirements set by the Matter protocol.
The VaultIC292 chip also comes pre-loaded with cryptographic keys and a Matter Device Attestation Certificate (DAC), generated via SEALSQ’s INeS PKI-as-a-Service Solution. Users can also opt to have their DAC signed by their own Product Attestation Intermediate (PAI), offering greater control over their security frameworks.
Key features:
- Rapid prototyping and reduced time to market: The board enables swift design, development, and implementation of Matter-compliant products across both home and industrial sectors
- Enhanced security: SEALSQ’s VaultIC292 delivers advanced cryptographic capabilities such as secure key storage, encryption, and authentication. This ensures secure data transmission and device integrity, fully adhering to Matter’s security standards
- Interoperability: The Matter protocol facilitates compatibility with a wide range of IoT devices, enhancing user experience by enabling seamless interaction between products from various manufacturers, including Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomePod
- Scalability: The board supports scalable deployment, making it suitable for converting prototypes into production and integrating into a variety of applications, from smart home devices to industrial IoT systems
- Ease of Use: The developer-friendly interface and extensive support make the board straightforward for IoT developers to work with, accelerating the time-to-market for new and innovative solutions
“Bharat Pi is committed to advancing Matter based IoT product development with a focus on security and interoperability,” said Prabhu Stavarmath, Chief Business Officer of Bharat Pi.
“Our collaboration with SEALSQ and the integration of their VaultIC292 technology into our Bharat Pi Matter board underscores our dedication to providing secure and reliable Matter compliant IoT solutions that meet the highest industry standards,” said Naveen G, CTO and Chief Architect of Bharat Pi.
“We are thrilled to participate in Bharat Pi’s board design and bring our Semiconductors, PKI and Matter expertise to create this unique product,” added Gweltas Radenac, IoT Business Unit Director for SEALSQ. “We are excited about the opportunity to gain rapid traction on the booming Matter compatible IoT device segment.”
The release of the new Bharat Pi Matter board, featuring SEALSQ’s VaultIC292, is set to make a significant impact on the Matter-enabled IoT device sector. Offering a secure, reliable, and interoperable solution, this collaboration is expected to stimulate innovation and the development of new IoT applications, addressing the increasing security challenges associated with Matter deployments.
