Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced serial-to-Ethernet and secure device networking solutions, has launched a new range of IOLAN SCR Console Servers, setting a new benchmark for secure out-of-band management (OOBM) solutions. These servers offer state-of-the-art network management capabilities, ensuring exceptional resilience and simplifying the management of devices across data centres.
“Perle is dedicated to actively engaging with our customers, predicting market demands, and consistently providing exceptional value. The new IOLAN SCR Console Servers mark a significant advancement in console server technology,” said John Feeney, Chief Operating Officer at Perle Systems. “With the rising complexities in modern data centres, we understand the importance of having a robust management plane that can be accessed securely, anytime and anywhere. We are excited to offer our customers a solution that enhances their operational efficiency and ensures the highest level of data protection.”
The IOLAN SCR Console Servers offer 24, 40, or 56 console management ports, supporting RS232, Ethernet, and USB connections for devices from multiple vendors. This allows users to consolidate their management nodes into a single IOLAN SCR appliance, providing comprehensive and secure remote access for more efficient out-of-band management.
As an all-in-one top-of-rack management solution, the IOLAN SCR Console Server establishes a secure management plane and offers a suite of intuitive automation tools. Administrators can effortlessly scale deployments, adjust configurations, update firmware, monitor system health, schedule tasks, and automate routine processes. For more advanced automation, the x86 CPU of the IOLAN SCR can run custom applications, including Python scripts, within native Docker containers and virtual machines (VMs), providing low-latency, real-time responsiveness for dynamic use cases.
The optional cellular connectivity feature enables predictive failover, ensuring smooth transitions between wired and wireless management planes. This guarantees the reliability and availability of critical IT infrastructure, allowing for rapid recovery and minimising the impact of network disruptions.
Security is a key feature of the IOLAN SCR series. With Perle’s integrated ARMOR security shield, administrators can configure access controls, authentication, and encryption protocols to meet corporate policy and regulatory standards. This simplifies security management while ensuring that only authorised personnel have access to network devices. Additionally, enhanced data packet performance on non-management interfaces contributes to overall network efficiency.
The IOLAN SCR series also boasts Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) and full IPv4/IPv6 routing capabilities, supporting protocols such as VRRP, RIP, OSPF, and BGP. This level of protocol support ensures ease of network integration, making it a standout option in the OOBM Console Server market.
