Low power IoT connectivity provider Nordic Semiconductor has been recognised by TIME magazine as one of the “World’s Most Sustainable Companies.”
Nordic’s notable achievements in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, increasing the use of recycled plastics in manufacturing component reels, and its steadfast commitment to sustainability principles have secured it a place in the top 500 list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies. This list was compiled by TIME and research partner Statista from over 5000 eligible companies worldwide.
The criteria developed by TIME and Statista to identify and reward companies prioritising sustainability are designed to promote corporate responsibility and advance sustainable practices.
More than 5000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies were evaluated based on factors such as revenue, market capitalisation, and public prominence. These companies underwent a rigorous four-step process covering over 20 key data points, including their CDP score, alignment with GRI and SASB, emissions and energy intensity, and employee turnover and work safety.
“We are very proud to have been recognised with such a distinction on a global scale,” said Geir Langeland, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Nordic Semiconductor. “The recognition not only raises awareness of our commitment to sustainability efforts to comply with regulations, but highlights the direction of our business to go above and beyond the necessary sustainability efforts to achieve net-zero emissions.”
The winners were mainly from five industries: Banking, Insurance & Financial Services; Manufacturing & Industrial Production; IT, Tech & Software; Facility, Real Estate & Construction; and Electronics, Hardware & Equipment.
The data points used to determine the winning companies were meticulously weighted and integrated into a sophisticated scoring model comprising 21 metrics. The ranking exclusively features companies that meet the specified criteria for each metric, with each position signifying positive recognition based on thorough research of publicly available data sources.
