Advanced over-the-air chambers from EMITE can now incorporate the sophisticated testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signalling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. Rohde & Schwarz, the radio communication tester, provides a broad range of device testing capabilities, supporting cellular technologies such as LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimetre wave frequencies up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies, including the latest Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument.
As a result of this collaboration, EMITE’s customers have gained a comprehensive environment for accurately assessing the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap devices.
EMITE’s upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the rigorous testing requirements of current and future wireless technologies. The next phase of the collaboration aims to integrate testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already covered by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
The IEEE 802.11be standard, Wi-Fi 7, represents the next generation of Wi-Fi technology, designed for extremely high data throughput, far surpassing its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With tens of gigabits of data per second and low latency, it addresses the growing demand for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as immersive virtual reality and augmented reality applications.
RedCap is a 5G technology defined in 3GPP Release 17. As a reduced-functionality version of 5G, it is significantly lower in cost compared to 5G eMBB. It is characterised by mid-range data throughput, low power consumption, low complexity, and the ability to support many devices, making it particularly suitable for IoT applications.
