Panasonic Industry has expanded its DW range of Polarised Power Relays with the introduction of the DW-YL series.
These relays offer up to 20A of latching relay functionality and are engineered to handle high inrush currents, supporting up to 320A for 1.2 milliseconds. This makes them particularly suited for applications with capacitive loads and other high-demand scenarios.
The DW-YL series relays come with several features:
- Compact design: with a PCB footprint of just 10mm wide, the DW-YL relays are designed to save space, facilitating more efficient layout designs
- Energy efficiency: featuring one or two coil latching designs, these relays minimise power consumption to nearly zero, making them ideal for energy-conscious applications
- High performance: boasting a TV8 rating, the DW-YL relays can manage up to 320A inrush current, ensuring high performance and durability
- Low profile: at only 15.8mm high, these relays are suitable for space-constrained applications
- Certification: the DW-YL series is UL/C-UL and VDE certified, ensuring they meet international standards for safety and reliability.
Applications
The DW-YL series is versatile, making it suitable for various applications, including:
- Lighting: ideal for use in electrical ballasts, smart lighting systems, and LED drivers where high inrush currents are prevalent
- IoT devices: perfect for smart plugs and smart switches, offering reliable performance in compact, smart home devices
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs): suitable for multi-outlet power strips, these relays ensure safe and efficient power distribution
With its robust design and high performance, the DW-YL series from Panasonic Industry is set to be a key component in modern, demanding applications, providing reliability and efficiency in a compact form.
Florian Becker, Product Manager at Panasonic Industry Europe, comments: “The DW-YL relays provide our customers with a reliable choice for managing high inrush currents within a compact design.
“It’s not only about safety and durability, but thanks to the Polarised Power Relay principle, it also contributes to significant energy savings in countless applications operated daily. This makes the DW-YL relay an essential component for a more sustainable approach to energy.”
