IDEC Corporation has broadened its SmartAXIS Touch portfolio with the unveiling of the FT2J Series, a sophisticated combination of PLC+HMI. This compact, all-in-one device integrates a full-function controller with both onboard and expandable I/O, alongside a cutting-edge 7″ touchscreen display. This development opens up new possibilities across a broad spectrum of industries by accommodating a more extensive range of applications.
Compact, streamlined, and simple
The all-in-one design of the PLC+HMI not only saves substantial panel space compared to separate units but also simplifies installation owing to its internal PLC-HMI connection, single power supply requirement, and unified network connection. The FT2J comes ready for immediate use and communication, featuring an integrated development environment that simplifies configuration and programming for both PLC and HMI functionalities.
Powerful PLC capabilities
With dedicated CPUs and user memory for the PLC and HMI, the integrated design ensures optimal performance and communication. The built-in I/O includes 14 points of DC discrete inputs and 4 points of analogue inputs, with options for relay or transistor outputs. The device supports up to two expansion cartridges, enhancing its flexibility for various applications. All analogue inputs and outputs offer 12-bit resolution for precise measurements.
Advanced HMI design
The FT2J’s HMI utilises projected capacitive touch technology, ensuring durability, responsiveness, and resistance to water and scratches. Its high brightness level of 500 cd/m² and extended backlight life of 50,000 hours, combined with a compact bezel, maximises the display area relative to the installation footprint. The device’s multi-touch capability remains effective even when the operator is wearing thin gloves.
Robust performance
Designed for longevity and reliability, the FT2J operates effectively in harsh environments, thanks to its wear-resistant glass-top design and battery-free operation. It is suitable for extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 55°C and meets various industry standards for durability and safety, making it ideal for diverse applications and environments.
Versatile configuration and connectivity
Configuration for both PLC and HMI is facilitated through IDEC’s WindOI-NV4 software, offering an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface. The FT2J supports a range of functions including script programming, PID loop control, and connectivity options such as USB-A ports, an Ethernet port, and RS232C/RS422/485 serial communication ports, enhancing its versatility for automation and IIoT solutions.
