The Board of Directors at Nexxiot has appointed Dr Maximilian Eichhorn as the new CEO to lead the company through its next growth phase. Dr Eichhorn, formerly ‘Vice President Digital Products and Services’ at Knorr-Bremse, brings extensive experience in driving digital innovation and creating scalable value for transportation clients.
Nexxiot, an asset intelligence company, will continue developing products to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of rail and intermodal operations. This aligns with the EU directive to shift 30% of road freight over 300 km to rail and waterborne transport by 2030, aiming to double rail freight traffic by 2050. Dr Eichhorn will steer Nexxiot’s commercialisation programme, delivering solutions to both rail and maritime clients.
With the one of the world’s largest IoT device fleet, comprising approximately 1 million digital railcars and shipping containers, Nexxiot stands at the forefront of innovation. The appointment of Dr Eichhorn, with his background from Knorr-Bremse, signifies a strategic evolution for Nexxiot to drive innovation and leverage synergies within the industry. The two companies previously entered a strategic investment and cooperation agreement to co-develop intelligent, connected rail solutions and have collaborated on digitalisation initiatives for several years.
Employing around 120 people worldwide, primarily in Switzerland, the US, and Nordic countries, Nexxiot’s growth has been driven by its scalable IoT hardware, data analytics, and process automation. The Board supports Dr Eichhorn’s vision to maximise client value by enhancing the team and fostering a culture of collaboration. His focus will be on advancing hardware excellence and data capabilities to address real-world challenges.
Nexxiot CEO, Max Eichhorn said: “Our purpose at Nexxiot is to accelerate the return on investment, (ROI) for our clients and their customers – by providing powerful hardware, analytics, and AI. We are experiencing rapid digital adoption across rail and maritime. Nexxiot is ideally positioned to capitalise on this growth. I’m excited to lead this diverse and committed team.”
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Andrew Thomas stated: “Building on our consecutive years of successful growth this is the perfect time to appoint Dr Eichhorn as CEO. Through Max’ industry leadership, together with his engineering expertise we will deliver the innovative products and digital services required by our global clients to support their digital transformation and commercial goals.”
