Australian satellite technology company Myriota is expanding its global footprint by opening a new UK office at Surrey Research Park in Guildford.
This strategic move into one of the UK’s innovation communities marks a significant milestone in Myriota’s mission to drive international growth and establish a strong presence in the EMEA region.
The company is transforming IoT connectivity by utilising direct-to-device satellite technology, enabling secure and affordable data access anywhere in the world. Myriota’s technology allows low-powered IoT devices and sensors around the globe to transmit data via nanosatellites orbiting the Earth. This breakthrough has facilitated applications ranging from monitoring water quality in Australia’s remote outback to protecting livestock wellbeing across North America’s vast plains.
As the ninth space company to join Surrey Research Park, operated by the University of Surrey — home to the renowned Surrey Space Centre and a founding member of the Space South Central industry cluster — Myriota is now part of a burgeoning hub of space innovation leaders. The company’s decision to become part of Surrey’s dynamic business community signifies a pivotal step in the Park’s development as a major launchpad for businesses looking to exploit opportunities in future-defining sectors like the space industry.
Located at the core of the Surrey Innovation District, Myriota’s UK team will benefit from access to top local talent and expertise, along with opportunities for collaboration and networking with other space innovators.
“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Myriota into our Surrey Research Park community and the Space South Central Cluster. The company’s drive and collaborative approach to growth make the team an excellent fit for our thriving business community. We are privileged at Surrey Research Park to offer cutting-edge businesses like Myriota everything they need for success – a fantastic workplace and unparalleled growth opportunities,” said Caroline Fleming, Director of Surrey Innovation District at the University of Surrey.
“We have redefined space-based communications to deliver low power and low cost, simple IoT solutions across the world. Locating ourselves at Surrey research park enables a great opportunity for expansion with the wealth of industry talent in communications and satellite networks available locally,” added Robert Barnes, VP EMEA, Myriota.
