Genetec recently announced the introduction of Security Centre 5.12.1, which brings new built-in automation tools for those upgrading to the latest version. By incorporating event-to-action, scheduled tasks, and hot actions, Security Centre Automation consolidates existing automation functions within the company’s unified platform.
This centralised, user-friendly hub enhances automation through enhanced management tools, upgraded capabilities, and a streamlined interface, simplifying automation configuration on larger scales and with greater complexity.
Preview Automation
Security Centre Automation is available in preview mode in Security Centre 5.12.1 to aid the transition between previous and new automation configuration methods and refine the performance of future releases. While traditional support for automation configuration remains, the preview mode period will address user feedback on user experience and technical issues through a dedicated process connecting users directly with our product team.
Although Security Centre 5.12.1 includes automation, manual activation is required to access automation’s preview mode. Whether activating the new tools or not, existing configurations such as event-to-action or scheduled tasks will remain active. System administrators are encouraged to explore the latest automation tools in this release to prepare for migrating to Security Centre Automation.
Additional Enhancements
Minimum PIN length setting
To improve security and compliance, a setting enforcing a minimum length for PIN credentials has been added. This enables the restriction of PINs shorter than four digits, aligning with stricter security certifications such as ULC and EN60839-11-1. Longer PINs bolster security and protect against unauthorised access and brute force attacks.
Additional enhancements
The addition of a bounding box around detected plates improves system readability and accuracy. When enabled, this visual enhancement aids in identifying the plate captured by the Genetec ALPR unit amidst crowded context images displaying multiple plates.
Added redundant video Archiver options
This new configuration provides flexible failover options, enhancing the reliability and resilience of archiving systems. For instance, organisations can now utilise two redundant Archiver roles and a third Archiver that activates only in failover scenarios.
Security Centre 5.12.1 also includes:
- Enhancements for body-worn cameras
- Bulk issuance of HID Origo mobile credentials
- License plate search for reads at recurring intervals
- A new privilege to change columns in public tasks
- An added entity type filter when generating an audit/activity trail report
