Calix has announced significant updates to its Broadband Platform, aimed at enabling broadband service providers (BSPs) to seamlessly integrate new systems and services, addressing a wider range of community broadband needs through a unified set of technologies.
A key highlight of these updates is the expansion of its Wi-Fi systems portfolio, introducing three additional Wi-Fi 7 systems designed to support the launch of residential multi-gigabit services. The company has also introduced a new outdoor solution targeted at the industrial sector, bolstering what is already one of the most comprehensive system line-ups in the industry. Moreover, Calix is advancing network modernisation with its 50G-PON technology, laying the groundwork for next-generation services across residential, business, and industrial sectors.
All the newly unveiled Wi-Fi systems, showcased at Calix ConneXions, are managed through the award-winning Calix Cloud. The platform’s operational efficiency enables BSPs, regardless of size, to deploy new technologies in a matter of days, rather than months, without the need for complex IT integration. The integration of cloud, software, and systems into a single platform also streamlines ongoing management and reduces operational costs.
Calix releases innovations on a 91-day cycle, providing BSPs with the confidence to plan and roll out performance-enhanced managed services efficiently. Looking ahead to 2025, Calix intends to expand its collection of Wi-Fi 7 systems to cater to the requirements of smaller homes, businesses, and apartments. Additionally, it plans to operationalise 50G-PON capacity for all customers, following demonstrations in 2023 and field trials in 2024, which included partnerships with providers such as ALLO Communications. The next stage of trial deployments, incorporating pioneering technology, is scheduled to commence within six months, with production-grade solutions anticipated by the end of next year.
Calix’s strategy focuses on enabling BSPs to deliver next-generation experiences across various use cases in their communities.
As BSPs adopt next-generation Wi-Fi 7 systems and implement 50G-PON, Calix’s comprehensive support framework, known as Calix Success, will provide essential assistance. This includes Success Guidance, Success Delivery, 24/7 network support, and training and certification through Success Education.
