BICS, the global network enabler and part of Proximus, has announced the immediate appointment of Surash Patel as its new Managing Director. Patel succeeds Guillaume Boutin, who has overseen BICS on an interim basis since February, while continuing in his role as CEO of Proximus Group. This leadership transition comes as BICS aims to further solidify its position within the global telecommunications market.
In June 2024, Proximus Group outlined its strategic vision to harness the combined strengths of its three international brands—BICS, Route Mobile, and Telesign—to establish a global entity in digital communications. This vision is built on the complementary capabilities of each brand, focused on connecting, engaging, and protecting both operator and enterprise customers worldwide. Patel will work alongside Rajdip Gupta from Route Mobile and Christophe Van de Weyer from Telesign, leading the Group’s global network enablement efforts and advancing the international ambitions of Proximus.
“I am honoured to lead BICS through this new chapter,” said Surash. “It’s an exciting time as we embrace the bold ambitions of Proximus Group for international growth. I look forward to working with BICS’ leadership team to champion innovation and excellence, creating value and opportunities for our customers worldwide.”
“I have full confidence in Surash that his leadership and experience in fostering growth within the B2B communications industry make him ideally suited to lead BICS. He will play an important role in the next phase of our Proximus international activities, together with Telesign and Route Mobile to create a global leader in digital communications,” said Guillaume Boutin, CEO of Proximus Group.
Patel brings extensive experience in B2B leadership, having driven significant commercial and strategic successes in SaaS and mobile technology businesses. He joins BICS from Telesign, where, as Vice President for EMEA, he oversaw triple-digit growth in the Digital Identity segment. Previously, he founded the mobile CRM SaaS provider mGage Europe and, during his tenure as General Manager at RealNetworks, achieved 30% growth over four years. Patel also served as Vice-Chair at the Mobile Ecosystem Forum between 2018 and 2021.
He holds a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Brunel University and an MBA from London Business School.
