TechPhosis, a deep-tech company specialising in communication solutions, has partnered with Pegatron 5G to establish state-of-the-art 5G/6G Research and Innovation Labs in India, aimed at supporting academic institutions in the development of 5G applications and IoT use cases.
This cutting-edge collaboration is set to equip Indian institutes with world-class research infrastructure, empowering students and researchers to gain hands-on experience with live 5G lab systems. The labs will provide in-depth exposure to message flows and protocols, as well as integration with application development environments for various industries.
As part of the collaboration, TechPhosis will supply the 5G software, including 5G RAN and 5G Core, developed using open-source technologies. Pegatron 5G will contribute locally manufactured, energy-efficient indoor radio hardware, compliant with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This joint effort aims to democratise access to 5G technology, offering these labs to Indian academic institutions at a significantly reduced cost compared to standard industry prices. Additionally, TechPhosis and Pegatron 5G will subsidise the initial deployment of a few labs.
“India is at the cusp of becoming a Communication Superpower and there is a massive opportunity of setting up 5G private networks across Enterprises, Industry, PSUs and Govt. departments. We want to enable our students to drive this 5G revolution which will be a major employment provider on one side and also lead the country to become a 6G leader and drive communications industry across the globe,” said Ritesh Aggarwal, CEO of TechPhosis.
“Pegatron 5G is fully committed to support India’s ambition to become a leading telecom global power by enabling the students and researchers in the country with the best 5G/6G lab infrastructure. Pegatron’s superior hardware and design and manufacturing capabilities helps to create highly cost effective, robust, stable and high performance ‘make in India’ 5G products,” added Jayant Moghe, AVP & Country Manager for Pegatron Electronics India.
