Rocket Lab, a launch provider and space systems company, announced it has scheduled the next Electron launch for Kinéis, an IoT connectivity provider.
The ‘IOT 4 You and Me’ mission is scheduled to launch during a window on 4th February, NZDT time. The launch will happen from Rocket Lab’s private orbital launch site, Launch Complex 1, in New Zealand.
This mission is the fourth of five dedicated Electron launches booked by Kinéis and will see Rocket Lab deploy a constellation of 25 IoT satellites. The first three missions were successfully launched in June, September and November 2024.
After the third launch in November 2024, Alexandre Tisserant, then-President of Kinéis (the departure of Tisserant was announced in December 2024) said: “Once again, the Kinéis teams demonstrate their technical capabilities as a satellite operator with the successful deployment of these 5 new satellites in a fast-paced launch schedule. This achievement would not have been possible without the precision of Rocket Lab’s Electron, which placed our satellites on their planned orbits.”
This latest launch is Rocket Lab’s first scheduled launch of 2025, with the company expecting to break its record of 16 launches across Electron and HASTE achieved in 2024.
“Last year we launched dedicated three missions for Kinéis, deploying 15 satellites to precise and tailored orbits to get the constellation up and running rapidly. We’re excited to continue the relationship in 2025 with our first mission off the pad for the year,” commented Peter Beck, Founder and CEO, Rocket Lab.
Kinéis is one of several connectivity providers operating in the satellite space, hoping to use satellite technology to provide ubiquitous connectivity where traditional cellular and Wi-Fi technologies struggle, such as in remote and rural areas. The hope is that by unlocking connectivity in these areas, greater, consistent connectivity will be granted to industries such as agriculture and mining, which have begun to utilise IoT technology to improve their efficiency and processes.
Kinéis also announced a series of partnerships last year, with Skynopy, Dryad Networks, and Dhruva Space, to name a few.
