At Hardware Pioneers Max 2026, Managing Editor Paige Hookway speaks with Jonathan Kaye, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Ezurio, about the company’s expanding compute and connectivity portfolio, its recent acquisition of Gateworks, and the latest demonstrations on display.
Kaye said that, as a designer and manufacturer focused on two core technology pillars: compute and connectivity, Ezurio aims to simplify embedded design, helping customers reduce development risk and accelerate time to market.
One of the biggest developments for the company this year is its acquisition of US-based rugged computing specialist Gateworks. Rather than being acquired itself, Ezurio has expanded its own business through the deal, opening the door to new markets including defence, avionics, rail, and smart energy, while strengthening both its compute and connectivity product portfolios.
Strategically, Kaye described the acquisition as part of Ezurio’s wider growth plans.
“Ezurio is on a growth trajectory,” he said, noting that the acquisition broadens the company’s product offering while supporting continued expansion across its key technology areas.
Turning to the demonstrations on the stand, Kaye highlighted Ezurio’s Carbon AM62 platform, based on the Texas Instruments AM62 processor. The demo showcased dual-display capabilities, running a medical infusion pump interface alongside a presentation to demonstrate the processor’s graphics performance. He also explained that the module combines Ezurio’s wireless connectivity technology with its compute platform in a compact OSM form factor, making it suitable for space-constrained industrial and medical applications.
Ezurio also demonstrated its Nitrogen95 platform, built around NXP’s highest-performance processor to date. Designed for more demanding applications, the platform targets advanced user interfaces, computer vision and Edge AI workloads, allowing AI processing to take place locally on the device rather than relying on cloud infrastructure.
Alongside its compute portfolio, Ezurio showcased a range of wireless connectivity demonstrations spanning Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN, ultra-wideband (UWB), and sub-GHz technologies.
Among the highlights were Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast demonstrations, developed with partner Cloud2GND using Nordic Semiconductor hardware, illustrating how multiple devices can simultaneously receive high-quality audio streams. Another demonstration focused on Bluetooth Channel Sounding, a new feature introduced in Bluetooth Core Specification Version 6, designed to improve ranging and positioning accuracy.
The company also demonstrated enterprise-grade Wi-Fi connectivity using Infineon technology, aimed at standalone embedded applications requiring robust wireless performance.
Looking ahead, Kaye said Ezurio’s message to engineers is that the company now offers a broader portfolio than ever before, combining leading silicon from multiple vendors with long-term software support, security, and product longevity.
“We’re expanding our portfolio, expanding the markets we serve, and giving customers a wide range of compute and connectivity options, including Edge AI,” he said.
