Comau presented two new digital solutions at 34.BI-MU, Italy’s exhibition for metalworking, machine tools, robotics, automation, digitalisation, and more. Emphasising its commitment to innovation in industrial automation and robotics, Comau invited attendees to explore how its in.Grid digital platform and the New Generation Robot Teach Pendant (TPX), featuring a fully touchscreen interface, can revolutionise manufacturing processes by boosting productivity, enhancing quality, and lowering costs.
The in.Grid IoT platform integrates advanced digital intelligence, enabling businesses to fully leverage real-time data monitoring across both Comau and third-party equipment. This continuous monitoring, tracking, and tracing of production lines significantly improves efficiency and sustainability. The platform’s capabilities help minimise downtime and enhance the overall quality of manufacturing processes.
in.Grid is a versatile, multi-functional system offering detailed data analytics on equipment performance and production processes. It not only tracks the status of machinery and monitors the entire production workflow to enhance performance, but also ensures seamless, paperless information access whenever and wherever it is needed. The in.Grid Line Monitoring service is available as a Cloud-based solution or as standalone software that can be deployed across multiple sites. Additional modules for in.Grid Robot Monitoring and Traceability are set for release soon.
in.Grid Line Monitoring provides companies with the ability to analyse performance, identify bottlenecks, and uncover areas for improvement, offering actionable insights that enhance productivity and operational efficiency. As a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, it further optimises processes with digital twin capabilities and real-time performance monitoring, while facilitating better asset and maintenance management—key to achieving sustainability goals.
Comau’s new TPX Robot Teach Pendant redefines the way users program, control, and monitor robots. Featuring a large touchscreen display and an advanced human-machine interface (HMI) that utilises intelligent programming models, TPX offers complete 360° control, allowing users to effortlessly manage multiple robots. Its integrated 3D simulation capabilities enable real-time visualisation and adjustment of robot movements, significantly reducing setup times and improving overall system efficiency. The TPX also simplifies complex programming, delivering a more user-friendly experience and optimising operations, even in the most challenging production settings.
“Our commitment to digital innovation is a key pillar in making industrial automation increasingly intuitive and easy-to-use,” said Nicole Clement, Chief Business Unit Leader for Advanced Automation Solutions, Comau. “This vision includes simplifying robot learning, programming and monitoring to the degree that non-expert users can easily manage complex tasks. It also includes creating a seamless flow of information across the entire factory regardless of whose equipment is installed. In doing so, Comau aims to increasingly optimise processes and performances while helping our customers lower overall costs.”
