Alliot Technologies has announced the launch of its new IoT middleware platform, Symbius. Designed to remove the barriers to cellular IoT, Symbius is among the first platforms of its kind to decode recorded data into a common format.
Up until now, cellular IoT has been notoriously difficult to adopt with no common protocol in use. Different manufacturers’ devices will often transmit data in a variety of formats. This has proved a difficult hurdle to overcome. Symbius sits between NB-IoT and LTE-M sensors and the users’ dashboard, removing the need for any manual development work.
“Cellular IoT has huge potential, but without easy access to the data being recorded, there was a great barrier preventing people from adopting it. Now, with Symbius cellular IoT is much more accessible. We’ve removed the need to implement a whole new range of protocols every time a new manufacturer is added to a solution, enabling our partners to focus on developing solutions that deliver, without any barriers,” said Robert Ferriday, Business Development Director, Alliot Technologies.

Having announced their Vodafone partnership in late 2022, Symbius bolsters Alliot’s NB-IoT offering which can be bundled together to offer a competitive, fully supported plan.
