Samsara has enabled Otto Car, one of the largest private hire vehicle providers in Europe, to track and measure its efforts in improving air quality. By using Samsara’s fleet management solutions, Otto Car has been able to demonstrate a reduction of 50,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions within just 12 months.
Through the use of Samsara’s technology, Otto Car can access precise, real-time data from its fleet of 5,600 vehicles, of which 4,000 are electric. These vehicles, utilised by rideshare drivers, transport over 75,000 passengers across London daily. This data is proving essential in minimising the environmental footprint of Otto’s fleet by providing insights on:
- Battery levels and degradation rates for each vehicle
- Total driver miles and hours on the road
- Optimal routes to reduce journey times and cut idling
“The best businesses of the future will be the ones that are good for the planet and good for the people they serve. We’re not going to wait for the future to come to us, we’re going to lean into it, and Samsara’s technology is helping us achieve that goal,” said Gurinder Dhillon, Founder of Otto Car. “Samsara’s technology has played a crucial role in monitoring and optimising our fleet’s performance, contributing to the success of our sustainability initiatives.”
“Otto Car is showcasing how, through the Samsara Connected Operations Cloud, fleet-based businesses can deliver on their sustainability mission while improving efficiency. Visibility of its entire fleet has been crucial in capturing the data Otto Car needs to prove the positive impact its sustainability strategy is making,” added Philip van der Wilt, SVP and GM EMEA at Samsara.
