DigiKey, a global distributor, has announced the release of Season 4 of its City Digital video series, titled “AI in the Smart World.” This series, sponsored by Molex and STMicroelectronics, delves into various facets of artificial intelligence (AI) integration, including infrastructure, transportation, environmental monitoring, and public services.
The fourth season of City Digital focuses on AI’s transformative role in the development of smart cities. Current advancements in hardware and software are crucial for integrating AI into urban environments, aiming to improve efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life.

The video series is as follows:
- The first episode, “The Intelligent Backbone,” investigates AI’s pivotal role in modernising urban infrastructure. It features AI-driven energy systems in smart buildings, intelligent traffic control, and AI’s application in monitoring critical infrastructure, demonstrating AI’s foundational role in efficient and sustainable urban living
- The second episode, “On the Move,” explores AI’s impact on transportation. It examines innovations in autonomous vehicles, smart traffic management systems, and AI-powered public transit, highlighting how these technologies can make transportation safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly
- The final episode, “The Responsive City,” discusses AI’s influence on public services and environmental monitoring. It covers AI’s role in waste management, predictive maintenance of public utilities, and the ability to monitor and respond to environmental changes, showcasing AI’s potential to create adaptive and responsive urban environments.
