Watergate announced the release of three new features for its flagship product, the water leak detector, Watergate Sonic.
Homeowners can control their water system to create a unified smart home experience. These features mark a significant step forward in making Sonic more versatile and accessible.
Reportedly, more than 5 million UK homes are equipped with connected, smart devices – including smart lighting, security and plugs.
The free, Watergate Local API allows direct control of Sonic using the user’s preferred smart home or building management system. It allows users to create bespoke automation or routines and control Sonic locally.
The integration provides access to Sonic’s raw telemetry data of water consumption, pressure and temperature readings as well as full control of Sonic’s built-in shut off valve. The API ensures compatibility with a wide range of platforms including Home Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, Creston and Control4.
A new Alexa skill has also been introduced to allow users to control their Sonic device with their voice – to shut off their water, for example.
Watergate Sonic also now natively integrates with Home Assistant, an open-source local hub celebrated for its ever-growing community and continuous feature enhancements. This means users can use their water system within the Home Assistant platform—from monitoring usage to automating leak prevention, Sonic is now an integral part of your smart home setup, making water management smarter and easier. Watergate has developed the integration and will support it so that everyone has access to the best-in-class integration.
“We’ve long believed that our products should integrate seamlessly into any home automation platform, and today, we’ve made that a reality. These new integrations empower users with greater control and a more unified smart home experience,” said Krystian Zajac, CEO and Founder of Watergate.
