Midea showcased its ECOMASTER energy-saving solution during IFA Berlin 2024, one of the world’s largest consumer electronics exhibition. This technology is designed to optimise product performance while reducing energy consumption by an average of 30%.
“Our users have made it clear that they care about reducing energy use and protecting the environment, and we aim to deliver,” said Kurt Jovais, Global Director of Product Management, Midea International Business. “Combining Cloud connectivity, advanced analytics, and an intelligent AI algorithm, ECOMASTER achieves the perfect balance between performance and energy efficiency.”
For example, an air conditioner equipped with ECOMASTER utilises an AI algorithm pre-trained on billions of data points, monitoring environmental conditions every 30 seconds. It integrates Cloud-based information, such as weather forecasts, to predict changes in heat load. This predictive capability ensures accurate temperature control, optimising both comfort and energy efficiency for a superior cooling experience.
The ECOMASTER technology is compatible with a wide range of Midea appliances, including refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, dishwashers, and water heaters. Once activated, it autonomously optimises energy consumption, and users can track their energy savings through an accompanying app.
The effectiveness of ECOMASTER is further enhanced when combined with Midea’s ESS Energy Management System. The tailored AI Energy Assistant adjusts to user preferences, managing energy storage, charging, and discharging based on fluctuating electricity tariffs. It also employs strategies for intelligent energy allocation to maximise efficiency.
Midea places a high priority on user privacy, ensuring that all data uploaded is purely operational, such as indoor and compressor temperatures. No personal information is involved, and the data remains accessible only to the user.
ECOMASTER represents Midea’s latest advancement in harnessing cutting-edge technology to create energy-efficient, user-friendly home appliances.
