OptConnect, a provider of managed wireless solutions, has unveiled the ema, the pioneering smart USB modem. The ema allows customers to seamlessly integrate cellular connectivity into their hardware, eliminating the delays and complexities often associated with other solutions.
At the heart of the new ema is the OptConnect ema, a patented smart embedded modem. This fully certified LTE Category 4 modem enables customers to bypass the additional costs and challenges involved in developing a low-level embedded wireless design.
With its ultra-compact design, the OptConnect ema is ideal for confined spaces unsuitable for larger cellular devices. Its dual-SIM capability ensures automatic failover if one carrier experiences a network issue, thereby enhancing reliability and ensuring uninterrupted service.
Each ema includes the proprietary driver emaConnect, which optimises compatibility and performance without requiring additional software development. This plug-and-play functionality is crucial for ensuring connectivity in varied environments.
The ema also features OptConnect’s leading Connectivity-as-a-Service (CaaS) management solution. This offering enables customers to swiftly deploy and scale their IoT projects, with 24/7/365 carrier monitoring, one-call technical support, device management, comprehensive hardware warranties, and a full range of supplementary services.
“While working to make connectivity both robust and simple for customers to integrate into their solution, we continued to hear that having a plug-and-play USB option would be a game changer for OEMs, operators, and deployers looking to connect their IoT devices,” said Chris Baird,
