NETGEAR has expanded its WiFi 7 mesh and standalone router lines with the new Orbi 770 Tri-band Mesh System and Nighthawk RS300 Router. These new products are NETGEAR’s most affordable WiFi 7 offerings to date, designed to deliver powerful WiFi performance and secure connectivity.
WiFi 7 offers 2.4 times faster speeds than WiFi 6, with lower latency and better management of WiFi interference, allowing seamless 4K/8K streaming, video conferencing, gaming, and more. Since the launch of NETGEAR’s initial WiFi 7 products – Nighthawk RS700 and Orbi 970 – multi-gig internet speeds have become more accessible, work-from-home demands have remained steady, and new devices such as AR/VR headsets and AI-focused platforms like CoPilot+ have emerged, requiring extremely low latency and higher throughput.
While WiFi 7 adoption is increasing, and new smartphones, laptops, and other devices are rapidly entering the market, the threat of IoT security breaches is also rising, making router security at the device level crucial to protecting digital lives and homes.

The mesh system
The Orbi WiFi 7 Tri-band mesh system provides exceptional performance with speeds up to 11Gbps for up to 100 devices across homes of up to 8000 square feet with a 3-pack. It enhances connection speeds by combining the 5GHz and 6GHz bands using Multi-Link Operation for both device connections and the backhaul between the router and satellites.
Its 2.5 Gig internet port allows users to fully utilise multi-gig internet speeds, making it future-proof for a new era of entertainment, hybrid work, and next-generation devices. The 2.5 Gig LAN ports on the router and satellite can be used for multi-gig wired connections or to connect shared storage or gaming PCs/consoles.
The slim, cylindrical design of the Orbi router and satellites ensures optimal performance and a discreet presence on any desk, shelf, or entertainment unit. Each unit features four high-performance internal antennas with high-powered amplifiers for 360-degree coverage, ensuring robust WiFi from the front door to the backyard. The Orbi 770 offers stable WiFi connections using preamble puncturing to selectively block interference.
The standalone router
The Nighthawk RS300 Tri-band router delivers ultra-fast WiFi 7 speeds up to 9.3Gbps, catering to budget-conscious but tech-savvy users. Its sleek new design and patented omni-directional internal antenna improve coverage and extend the signal range, providing up to 2,500 square feet of WiFi coverage for up to 100 devices.
The 2.5 Gig internet port allows everyone in the household to access the latest multi-gig internet speeds, while the additional 2.5 Gig and two 1 Gig LAN ports enable fast wired connections for latency-sensitive devices such as gaming PCs or consoles.
Security features
Home networks typically experience an average of 10 attacks every 24 hours, making it crucial to protect digital lives starting at the router. NETGEAR routers are equipped with advanced encryption protocols and threat detection mechanisms, serving as the first line of defence against cyber threats. Security features include automatic firmware updates, VPN support, advanced WPA3 security, access control, and guest WiFi network options.
The Orbi 770 series is the first to feature the new Advanced Router Protection, which protects against both known and many unknown threats using AI heuristics and advanced exploit prevention. This feature enables rapid live patch releases for threats, significantly improving response times compared to traditional firmware updates. Developed in partnership with Bitdefender, this protection will be extended to the rest of the WiFi 7 lineup later this year.
For added protection, both Orbi 770 and Nighthawk RS300 include a 30-day trial of NETGEAR Armor, powered by Bitdefender, providing an automatic security shield for connected devices and added privacy with VPN. Unlike traditional endpoint antivirus products, Armor is integrated into the router, protecting computers, security cameras, baby monitors, and other IoT devices on the network, eliminating the need for multiple security subscriptions.
