As continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices become smaller and more advanced, the need for higher integration, greater sensing accuracy, and lower power consumption continues to grow. Goodix unveiled GR511x, a single-chip solution for CGM applications that integrates Bluetooth LE wireless technology and an electrochemical sensing analog front-end (AFE), helping customers build compact, high-precision, low-power devices while enabling slimmer designs and scalable production for the next generation of CGM products.
Three core advantages for next-generation CGM products
Building on Goodix’s expertise in wireless connectivity and health sensing, GR511x is designed to address three essential needs of CGM applications: compact size, high precision and ultra-low power consumption. It delivers a differentiated system-level solution that simplifies the development and ready for mass production.
-
Highly integrated single-chip architecture enables compact designs
For CGM devices, smaller and lighter form factors are key to a better wearing experience. GR511x integrates Bluetooth LE connectivity and electrochemical signal acquisition on a single chip, reducing external components, simplifying system design and accelerating product development and time to market.
With a 3 × 3 × 0.77 mm package, GR511x also frees up valuable space for structural optimisation, supporting the continued miniaturisation of CGM devices.
-
High-precision AFE for accurate and stable detection across a wide range
CGM performance depends on accurate electrochemical signal acquisition – from precise and stable bias voltage, reliable detection of minute current to excellent linearity and accuracy across a wide dynamic range.
GR511x meets these demands with a high-performance AFE that achieves bias-voltage accuracy of 0.3 mV and keeps current-detection error within 50pA across a 0–5nA current range.
Combining high resolution and stable accuracy across a wide measurement range, the solution enhances the reliability and consistency of glucose data acquisition, laying a solid foundation for algorithm development, calibration optimisation and further performance improvements.
-
Ultra-low power for efficient logistics and longer wear time
Power efficiency is critical to CGM products – not only for battery life, but also for shipping, storage, activation strategy, and overall operating efficiency.
GR511x supports a ship mode with current consumption as low as 20nA and typical operating current as low as 20μA. This helps minimise battery drain during transportation and inventory storage, improving product readiness upon delivery. Its ultra-low-power performance also enables longer battery life during everyday wear, helping reduce replacement frequency and enhance the overall user experience.
Expanding product portfolio to accelerate CGM innovation
With rising clinical adoption, better wearability, and a maturing supply chain, compact wearable CGM devices are seeing growing demand worldwide. According to the Grand View Research report, the global CGM device market is projected to grow from USD 15.5 billion in 2026 to USD 41.4 billion by 2033, at a CAGR of 15.1%.
Goodix CGM solutions have already been adopted by several leading medical device manufacturers. Looking ahead, Goodix will continue to expand its CGM solution portfolio, offering both single-chip and discrete Bluetooth LE and AFE solutions to support diverse product development requirements. Through this broader portfolio, Goodix aims to help customers deliver next-generation CGM products that are more accurate, comfortable and reliable.
