Vicon’s most advanced camera range is set to drive forward new ground-breaking motion capture applications for engineering users globally.
Vicon, a world leader in motion capture, has launched Valkyrie, its new flagship camera range, with four models delivering the world’s highest quality motion capture system. Valkyrie cameras will capture motion more faithfully and accurately than ever before, powering a new wave of innovation and discovery across a range of engineering disciplines.
Designed to work in harmony with Vicon’s powerful software solution for engineering users – Tracker – Valkyrie completes a true best-of-breed ecosystem for motion capture users.
The range includes a 26-megapixel (MP) model and a high-speed capture mode at up to 2,000FPS (frames per Second). When combined with the new powerful and bespoke varifocal lens, they deliver a greater fidelity in motion capture and unlock a previously unmatched capture quality. Valkyrie will allow a wide range of commercial engineering users, academics, scientists, and researchers to accurately track even the fastest moving subjects and objects.
Valkyrie-enabled systems will power motion capture projects with robust data without the need for further processing or ‘clean up’. The enhanced self-healing powered by the software will ensure Vicon’s customers can focus on their work rather than the technology. The IP65 rating enables long-term outdoor installations with confidence.
The Valkyrie range includes the following products.
VK26 – the flagship model with a 26MP resolution and native 150FPS
The VK26 is capable of covering the largest volumes with incredible detail. It is ideal for applications such as tracking fast-moving vehicles or swarms of drones across warehouses and other large areas.
VK16 – offering the highest frame rate per megapixel, at 16MP with a native 300FPS
Designed to capture fast-moving objects with high accuracy, the VK16 supports applications such as drone tracking in medium-sized volumes.
VK8 – offering both the highest native frame rate of 500FPS and the best cost per megapixel at 8MP
The VK8 precisely captures very fast-moving objects with the highest FPS – all within a budget
VKX – featuring 7MP resolution and native 380FPS
The VKX is able to track active markers often used by large commercial and industrial users, and it covers warehouse-scale spaces and captures objects accurately at long distances.
As Imogen Moorhouse, CEO of Vicon, explained: “Our engineering customers, in both academia and professional practice, are at the cutting edge of the use of motion capture. With Valkyrie we will support their growing needs and demands with the most advanced motion capture systems ever seen.
“In challenging times, the Vicon team has created an industry-leading set of features providing high fidelity, intelligence, automation and a technical robustness which combine to create a new degree of usability, speed and accuracy.
“With every design decision we’ve taken we have focused on empowering the global community of motion capture users to take their work to the next level. With Valkyrie, our customers are going to play a massive role in driving forward a new era of motion capture innovation and exploration.
