Every month on IoT Insider, we feature a wide range of contributed articles from industry experts in our insights section, on topics anywhere from impending legislation to understanding connectivity technologies and the ever-evolving threat landscape. In the continuation of this series, we pick out our favourite stories worth a read published in November.
This November, some of the topics touched upon were the CRA; LTE-M for asset tracking, and IoT technologies in cheesemaking.
1. A breakthrough for IoT security: But does the CRA go far enough?
Gianni Cuozzo, Founder and CEO of Exein poses the question of whether the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), set to be a landmark piece of regulation for the cybersecurity landscape, goes far enough.
“The CRA recommends proactive updates and patches for customers, but this isn’t enough. If malicious actors are using automated technology to infiltrate networks and devices, businesses should also use automated technology to defend against them,” Cuozzo wrote.
2. LTE-M vs. Cat 1bis: Why LTE-M wins for asset trackers
Dana Cohen, Product Marketing Manager at Sony Semiconductor Israel pits two technologies against each other for asset tracking: LTE-M and Cat 1bis, and argues that LTE-M comes out on top.
“LTE-M, a form of LPWA technology, has demonstrated its value in terms of cost, coverage, power consumption, and longevity,” Cohen wrote.
3. Why it’s time to mature IoT adoption in the dairy industry
CENSIS, who recently worked with Appleby Creamery on digitising some of the previous manual processes for cheese-making, deep dives into this subject with an exclusive article written by Rachael Wakefield, Business Development Manager at CENSIS.
4. Time-sensitive networking to empower machine design and plant productivity
Time-sensitive networking (TSN), a technology previously covered on IoT Insider before, is tackled this time by Thomas Burke, Global Strategic Advisor for CC Link Partner Association (CLPA).
“TSN is a better option than rigid and inflexible industrial networks that require careful planning and limit adaptability,” Burke wrote.
