Sateliot, the first company to operate a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) 5G IoT satellite constellation as a seamless roaming extension of cellular networks, will launch four new satellites with SpaceX this year.
With these four new satellites, in addition to the two already in orbit, Sateliot will enter the initial phase of its constellation, marking the beginning of its commercial phase.
Sateliot, which partners with companies such as Indra, Cellnex, and Sepides, will start billing €187 million of binding orders from over 350 clients across more than 50 countries. With this recurring revenue, Sateliot aims to achieve €500 million in revenue by 2027 and become a billion-euro company by 2030.
The company has recently raised €13.5 million, including €6 million from Banco Santander, €5 million from a convertible note, and €2.5 million from a participative loan from the public company Avançsa. These funds, along with the commencement of Series B, will facilitate technological advancements, the launch of the four satellites, and the expansion of its team to complete the deployment of its constellation by 2027/2028, providing real-time global coverage.
The satellites are 4 cubesats, each measuring 20 x 10 x 35 centimetres and weighing 10 kilograms. They will orbit at altitudes between 500 and 600 kilometres, with a lifespan of five years, and will cover 100% of the planet.
The core innovation of these satellites lies in their internal technology, tested and validated by the European Space Agency (ESA) and 3GPP, the organisation that regularly brings together key players in the telecommunications sector. This technology is standardised and open to all citizens, public administrations, and companies.
Its standardisation makes it scalable, easy to maintain, and updateable, enabling the progressive deployment of the constellation according to customer demand. Initial services will include connectivity for IoT applications such as agriculture, which require only two daily messages, expanding to real-time global services. Therefore, Sateliot can provide services with its first-phase constellation, unlike other companies that require many more satellites to commence commercial operations.
Jaume Sanpera, CEO and Co-Founder of Sateliot said: “We are ready to enter a new dimension, both technologically and commercially. We are closer to becoming the first IoT constellation operating worldwide under the 5G standard. And we will place Spain at the forefront of the New Space revolution.”
