IMDT has announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies. This partnership will see the integration of Qualcomm Technologies’ IoT processors into IMDT’s energy-efficient, cost-effective System-on-Modules (SOMs), Single-Board Computers (SBCs), and solutions.
IMDT’s product range, now enhanced by Qualcomm Technologies, offers high performance and advanced capabilities across various applications, including robotics, drones, video collaboration, and smart retail. Leading the line-up are the IMDT QCS8550 SOM and SBC, powered by the Qualcomm QCS8550 processor. This processor, now available for pre-order, delivers exceptional computing power, advanced Edge AI processing, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and superior video and graphics, making it suitable for demanding AIoT applications.
The collaboration combines Qualcomm Technologies’ cutting-Edge processors with IMDT’s expertise in delivering end-to-end solutions, from initial design through to hardware and software development, and integration into Edge devices, including production and manufacturing. This approach ensures unmatched performance and efficiency in creating bespoke AIoT solutions.

Looking ahead, IMDT is also developing a new series based on the Qualcomm QCS6490 processor, expected to be available for pre-order in Q4 2024. This new product line highlights IMDT’s ongoing commitment to technological advancement and delivering cutting-edge solutions to its customers.
The IMDT QCS8550-based SOM, measuring just 37 x 30 x 4mm, is a production-ready module that supports up to 20 cameras via 8 x 4-lane MIPI CSI connections. The module also offers customisable features, including onboard Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, various memory and storage options, and PHY configurations, allowing users to tailor the system to their specific requirements.
