Granite River Labs (GRL) recently announced that its laboratory in Incheon, Korea, has been authorised by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) to conduct compliance testing for the DisplayPort standard and DisplayPort over USB Type-C on sink products supporting HBR3 and lower bit rates. This new authorisation positions GRL Korea alongside its laboratories in Santa Clara, Taipei, Japan, Shanghai, and Dongguan as certified testing centres for DisplayPort technology.
DisplayPort is a packet-based, extensible protocol for transporting video and audio data. Initially introduced as a new external interface, its flexibility has enabled its adaptation to embedded displays and integration into other connectors such as the reversible USB Type-C interface and Thunderbolt.
“GRL Korea is excited to support the development of DisplayPort and DisplayPort over USB Type-C in Korea,” said JW Moon, General Manager of GRL Korea and Vice President of Regional Large Accounts. “We hope this will help ambitious local adopters achieve continuous success with competitive time to market and encourage other local adopters to gain confidence in adopting DisplayPort and other VESA-led technologies.”
“With our ongoing efforts to enhance the DisplayPort standard and provide additional benefits for end users, we are also elevating the importance of device certification for our members,” added Bill Lempesis, Executive Director of VESA. “GRL is recognised for its technical leadership in supporting the DisplayPort standard, and we are pleased to broaden certification options for our members in Korea.”
