Anritsu Company has announced its strategic expansion into the domain of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) through a collaboration with Skylo Technologies. This partnership will enable Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and third-party test houses to conduct Skylo-specified testing of NTN devices using Anritsu’s sophisticated test platforms.
Based in Mountain View, California, Skylo Technologies is a provider in the global non-terrestrial network sector. The collaboration aims to offer device, module, and chipset manufacturers the opportunity to utilise a reputable third-party service for confirming their products’ compatibility with Skylo’s network. This move is expected to assure high standards in performance, reliability, and connectivity for end-users.
Central to this initiative is the Anritsu MT8821C Radio Communication Analyzer, which will be instrumental in developing NTN test solutions alongside Skylo Technologies. Anritsu’s advanced testing methods and equipment will be crucial in evaluating the robustness and efficiency of devices designed for Skylo’s network. The testing will thoroughly assess each device’s functionality, signal integrity, and Radio Frequency (RF) characteristics, ensuring their ability to endure diverse environmental and RF conditions.
Anritsu will support several test areas, including device RF parametrics, Over-The-Air (OTA) performance, Protocol Conformance, and RF Conformance.
Dr. Andrew Nuttall, CTO and Co-Founder of Skylo, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: “Skylo’s mission to revolutionise global connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved regions, is significantly bolstered by our collaboration with Anritsu. This partnership streamlines the process for our customers and partners to certify their devices on our network, with Anritsu’s testing and certification expertise being a vital component in our quest for seamless connectivity.”
Jonathan Borrill, CTO for Anritsu T&M, also commented on the collaboration: “We are excited to join forces with Skylo in their trailblazing efforts in non-terrestrial networks. We see NTN as a transformative technology in telecommunications, destined to become an integral part of future wireless networks. Our shared commitment to telecommunications excellence ensures that devices operating on Skylo’s network will meet the highest quality standards.”
Anritsu will showcase at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, demonstrating RF measurement of NTN NB-IoT. This demonstration, featuring Anritsu’s MT8821C Radio Communication Analyzer, will allow customers to test RF parametrics with call connection in an NTN environment. Interested attendees can visit Anritsu at hall 5, stand 5D41.
