Moxa is proud to announce a significant achievement as it secures the world’s first TSN Component Certification from the Avnu Alliance for its TSN-G5000 Series industrial Ethernet switches. Moxa’s TSN-enabled switches allow users to design interoperable, deterministic, and reliable end-to-end communications, delivering time-sensitive networking (TSN) for critical industrial applications without the restrictions of proprietary systems.
“The Component Certification Program is the first of its kind to certify TSN capabilities and serves as the industry platform for verifying conformance and cross-vendor interoperability of TSN components,” said Dave Cavalcanti, President of Avnu Alliance. “Moxa’s expertise and experience in industrial Ethernet and networking, as well as the global TSN standardisation projects, brings crucial advancement to the program and improves deterministic and reliable end-to-end networking over TSN for various industrial applications across vertical markets.”
The Avnu Alliance Component Certification Programme, an industry forum designed to integrate deterministic capabilities into open, standards-based networking, focuses on key TSN standards, such as timing and synchronisation (802.1AS) and scheduled traffic enhancements (802.1Qbv). By enabling manufacturers across various markets to verify the compliance of their components with these core TSN standards, the programme enhances interoperability and simplifies system integration.
Drawing on its extensive experience in bridging standard Ethernet with industrial applications, Moxa supports the certification programme by offering testing products and completing test cases for devices such as Ethernet switches. This contribution has been instrumental in developing the programme. Moxa’s involvement in global TSN initiatives, such as the IEC/IEEE 60802 TSN profile for industrial automation and the IEEE 802.1 TSN Task Group, has also been critical in translating IEEE SA 802.1 TSN standards into testable specifications. These efforts ensure that TSN component-level technologies can be effectively adopted across different markets worldwide.
Moxa’s Avnu-certified TSN Ethernet switches are already being used successfully across the globe. With their compact design and intuitive interface, the switches are well-suited for diverse applications such as factory automation, dynamic mass customisation, hydropower plants, and CNC machines. The TSN-G5000 Series helps customers reduce production times and boost efficiency, demonstrating the practical advantages of TSN in industrial settings and accelerating digital transformation across sectors.
Moxa believes that the TSN Component Certification Programme, coupled with its dedication to advancing TSN technology, will continue to set new benchmarks for the industry and drive innovation to meet the evolving demands of industrial automation.
