Indio Networks, a provider of networking solutions with nearly two decades of experience, is pleased to announce a strategic collaboration with Edgecore Wi-Fi, based in Taiwan. This partnership marks a significant development within the OpenWiFi ecosystem, as both companies are strong proponents of open and disaggregated technologies, such as OpenWiFi and OpenLAN Switching. By combining Edgecore’s extensive hardware portfolio with Indio’s advanced software and Cloud capabilities, the partnership aims to deliver cutting-edge Wi-Fi and switching solutions.
With a history of successful OpenWiFi deployments across various sectors, Indio Networks continues to lead the market with its flagship platform, Indio Cloud, a comprehensive Open Cloud controller. This platform offers an all-in-one solution for Wi-Fi management, including provisioning, configuration, and control of wireless access points, routers, and Ethernet switches.
In addition, Indio Cloud delivers user management, authentication, billing, security, analytics, and monetisation tools. Both Indio and Edgecore share a vision to make OpenWiFi and OpenLAN Switching technologies widely accessible across industries such as multi-dwelling units (MDUs), public spaces, hospitality, healthcare, and small to medium-sized enterprises.
As early members of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), a global community advocating open, disaggregated, and standard-based technologies since 2019, Edgecore has focused on developing OpenWiFi hardware, while Indio has specialised in building next-generation Edge and Cloud platforms. This collaboration unites Edgecore’s high-performance Wi-Fi hardware with Indio’s expertise in software, Cloud, and switching to deliver superior networking solutions. Indio’s Open Cloud Controller will support Edgecore’s entire range of OpenWiFi-ready products, spanning Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, and OpenLAN Switching (OLS) switches.
A growing number of customers and partners are recognising the benefits of open technologies. Initially, the term ‘Open’ raised concerns about stability, performance, and manageability. However, with rigorous testing, validation, and certification from TIP labs, products from Indio and Edgecore have demonstrated reliability and efficiency, positioning OpenWiFi as a viable alternative to proprietary solutions. This is evident in the growing number of businesses moving from traditional Wi-Fi vendors to open networking solutions, further cementing Indio’s reputation in the market.
“We, at Indio Networks, are really thrilled to partner with Edgecore Wi-Fi in promoting OpenWiFi and OpenLAN Switching technology to our customers. The partnership will combine Edgecore Wi-Fi’s strong hardware product line with Indio Networks’ deep software expertise in Wi-Fi, switching and Cloud, to deliver superior networking solutions to our customers,” said Rishi Ghare, CEO of Indio. “We look forward to working with Edgecore Wi-Fi to advance the spirit of open standards, disaggregation and vendor independence to our customers and partners in the years ahead.”
“At Edgecore Wi-Fi, we share a strong alignment with Indio Networks in our belief in the transformative potential of OpenWiFi technology,” added TengTai Hsu, Vice President of Edgecore Networks. “We are committed to empowering users with the flexibility and autonomy that open-source architecture enables. This approach not only helps overcome network limitations but also drives greater operational efficiency and optimises overall network ROI. Over the past few years, our solutions have played a pivotal role in advancing network infrastructure across diverse industries. Through this collaboration, we’re excited to extend these benefits to a broader audience, delivering highly efficient network solutions to new regions.”
This alliance is set to accelerate the adoption and advancement of OpenWiFi technology across a wide range of industries.
