Ground Control, satellite and connectivity specialists, has now incorporated Videosoft into its suite of solutions for remote video surveillance, catering to multiple sectors where efficient video streaming over low bandwidth is essential for remote operations.
While primarily designed for security purposes, this integration will be employed to combat theft, border incursions, trafficking, and even poaching, by transmitting video data over satellite connections in a cost-effective manner and near real-time.
Ground Control’s deployment of Videosoft delivers high-compression, low latency video encoding in real-time, providing a crucial tool for customers overseeing remote sites, often with unmanned facilities in industries such as agriculture, military, mining, oil and gas, and other remote asset management scenarios, including parked and heavy vehicles in construction, mining, and forestry.
The solution is equally suitable for border control, event security, law enforcement, and anti-poaching networks, as well as conservation and research efforts, where smart cameras supply timely data for forestry, wildlife reserves, national parks, education, and research initiatives.
By integrating Videosoft into its RockREMOTE Rugged device, Ground Control enables the simultaneous live streaming of multiple scenes, ensuring secure data transmission with AES128 and AES256-bit encryption, along with high-resolution snapshots and video retrieval capabilities.
The system features best-in-class compression at the Edge, which significantly reduces data costs while supporting both USB and IP-connected cameras. Additionally, it allows operators to remotely identify areas of interest within an image to request enhanced detail in that specific area. Users can run the application within a containerised environment on a powerful four-core processor, ensuring that the gateway code operates without interruption.
“The requirement for robust, secure, and uninterrupted video streaming across diverse remote environments has grown in recent years as companies look to monitor assets in hard-to-reach areas that are poorly, or not at all served by terrestrial networks,” said Alastair MacLeod, CEO for Ground Control. “Cost, however, has often been the blocker when streaming via satellite. By integrating Videosoft into our solutions, we are now able to offer the most cost-effective, real-time solution available, with enhanced additional capability to access simultaneous streams with best-in-class compression at the Edge, keeping costs minimised. We’re also able to develop a range of interfaces on the cloud side, so data can be sent directly to a preferred platform without additional coding required.
“From energy and renewables through to construction and conservation, we are opening up new horizons for remote monitoring to keep assets safe, secure and productive.”
Stewart McCone, CEO at Videosoft Global, said: “Our partnership with Ground Control demonstrates a shared commitment to solving a range of complex industries operating from remote locations around the world. Future-proofing network requirements with our market-leading technology, together we can provide customers with complete connectivity and control and eliminate remote data transfer challenges from the outset.
“Our video streaming compression technology, integrated into Ground Control’s RockREMOTE Rugged solution, opens the floodgates for countless critical applications, including advanced Industrial IoT communications.”
