C3Spectra is pleased to announce it has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as an Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) operator. This milestone positions the company to empower business across industries including residential broadband ISPs, airports and stadiums, to unlock the full potential of 6GHz frequency band with Standard Power operating capabilities, a cornerstone of Wi-Fi 6e and Wi-Fi 7 networks.
The FCC’s 6GHz band offers access to additional wireless spectrum for Wi-Fi, expanding on a tried and true technology framework. Using this band requires careful coordination to avoid disrupting critical infrastructure, and incumbent users.
C3Spectra’s Spectra AFC system solves this perpetual compliance challenge, acting as a ‘smart spectrum and signal power controller’ for enabling access to the 6GHz band. By automating radio channel and signal power selection, authorisation, and compliance, the Spectra AFC allows residential and business users to safely scale Wi-Fi performance, delivering the following advantages:
- Broader coverage: eliminate dead zones in large venues like convention centers, warehouses, and large residences
- Faster speeds: enable seamless, lower latency 4K streaming, IoT connectivity, and real-time data transmission
- Future-proof networks: lay the groundwork for Wi-Fi 7 adoption and emerging technologies
“Our AFC system ensures businesses can harness this spectrum without risking interference—whether upgrading a hotel’s guest Wi-Fi or supporting mission-critical operations at an airport. This isn’t just about compliance; it’s about unlocking innovation,” said Zaheer Syed, CEO of C3Spectra.
The industries set to benefit include:
- ISPs and home broadband: ensure home users maintain compliance while maximising home Wi-Fi performance by unlocking wider coverage and faster speeds for a better experience
- Transportation hubs: ensure reliable connectivity for travellers and operational systems in airports, train stations, and ports where network users’ needs and expectations are high
- Sports and entertainment venues: enhance the fan experience with robust, greater bandwidth, and high-density Wi-Fi, enabling seamless streaming and immersive digital engagement
- Logistics and manufacturing: power smart warehouses with robust networks for automation and real-time inventory tracking
- Telecom and network infrastructure: equip Internet service providers (ISPs) and equipment manufacturers with the tools to confidently deploy next-gen Wi-Fi 6e/7 routers and future-proof infrastructure
C3Spectra’s approval comes amid surging demand for advanced Wi-Fi, with Future Market Insights projecting growth at 18.3% CAGR with US spending of $18.9 billion growing to $23.2 billion by the end of 2033. The company is already collaborating with ISPs, cable broadband service providers, Wi-Fi router manufacturers, and enterprises to deploy its Spectra AFC and soon, will launch its Geo-Location services, ensuring seamless operation of Standard Power-enabled networks for traditional use cases.
