Analog Devices has launched the latest version of its open-source development platform, CodeFusion Studio 2.0, in a move aimed at simplifying and accelerating the design of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled embedded systems.
The updated software introduces an end-to-end AI workflow, expanded hardware support, and new tools designed to unify development across the company’s processors and microcontrollers.
Rob Oshana, Senior Vice-President of Software and Digital Platforms at Analog Devices, said the upgrade “transforms the developer experience by unifying fragmented AI workflows into a seamless process,” allowing engineers to “focus on innovating and accelerating time to market.”
The company said the new version supports “bring-your-own-model” AI integration, alongside performance profiling and model validation tools that help developers deploy neural networks efficiently across Analog Devices’ hardware range—from low-power edge processors to high-performance digital signal processors.
Built on Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code, CodeFusion Studio 2.0 also incorporates a Zephyr-based modular framework for runtime profiling of AI and machine learning workloads. This addition enables layer-by-layer performance analysis, improving visibility into system behaviour and eliminating the need for multiple disconnected toolchains.
The update further extends multi-core support, integrates unified configuration tools, and enhances debugging through features such as Core Dump Analysis and GNU Debugger (GDB) integration. The company said these changes streamline work on heterogeneous systems and reduce development complexity.
Paul Golding, Vice-President of Edge AI and Robotics, said the release forms part of the company’s broader ambition to advance “physical intelligence” — a term it uses to describe AI systems that operate within real-world physical constraints. “We’re creating an ecosystem that enables developers to optimise, deploy and evaluate AI models seamlessly on ADI hardware, even without physical access to a board,” he said.
The software is available for download from the company’s developer website. Analog Devices said CodeFusion Studio 2.0 would underpin its long-term digital roadmap, which aims to deepen the integration between hardware and software across its product portfolio.
Analog Devices, which reported revenue of more than $9bn in its 2024 financial year, employs around 24,000 people worldwide and supplies semiconductors used in industrial, automotive, and healthcare applications.
