UK-based network service monitoring company Highlight has unveiled a new Internet of Things (IoT) observability service designed for Cisco Meraki devices, as demand grows for integrated oversight of digital infrastructure.
The service provides real-time visibility of IoT performance, incorporating device health, connectivity, and sensor data into a single observability dashboard. This allows network and service managers to monitor IoT alongside traditional network infrastructure, while receiving proactive alerts in the event of outages or failures.
Initially focused on Cisco Meraki’s smart cameras and sensors, the platform consolidates monitoring across multiple locations and customers. Highlight said the integration gives users a unified view across networks, backed by API-driven connections to Meraki’s cloud services.
The company emphasised that the technology has applications in sectors such as retail, where smart devices are increasingly used for footfall analysis, in-store security, and management of critical infrastructure including refrigeration and air conditioning. By integrating IoT monitoring into its existing platform, Highlight said managers can improve operational efficiency and respond more quickly to service issues.
Martin Saunders, Highlight’s Chief Operating Officer, said IoT adoption is creating new challenges for enterprises: “Power outages, cloud disconnections, or Wi-Fi disruptions can render a device useless. With Highlight, you don’t just see if a device is online — you see if it’s connected, powered, and functional.”
He added that the new service could support providers in expanding their portfolios: “What was once a patchwork of isolated, hard-to-manage devices has rapidly evolved into a connected ecosystem. Service managers can now offer IoT solutions with the same rigour and responsiveness as any other business-critical service.”
Highlight said the platform was designed with future automation and analytics in mind, enabling businesses to manage IoT and network services as a single, integrated offering.
