Schneider Electric has announced the integration of Matter protocols into its Schneider X Series range of connected wiring devices. This enhancement will boost compatibility across smart home ecosystems, offering improved integration to simplify home energy management. Recently recognised as the world’s most sustainable company, Schneider Electric continues to spearhead smart home energy management with innovative solutions designed for homeowners, homebuilders, and electrical installers.
The Schneider X Series, which includes connected outlets, light switches, and dimmers, combines modern aesthetics with real-time energy consumption monitoring. These devices provide homeowners with an unparalleled level of visibility and control over their energy usage, right down to individual devices. The addition of Matter capabilities further extends their connectivity within smart home environments, enhancing both interoperability and usability across various smart home systems.
“The vision of a truly smart home is to provide homeowners with the insight to understand how energy is being used throughout their home and the tools to optimise that usage to reduce their utility bills,” Michael Lotfy Gierges, Executive Vice President, Home & Distribution, Schneider Electric. “By adding Matter capabilities to our Schneider X Series line of connected devices, we are enhancing their value to homeowners, going beyond the energy monitoring and control at the device, to begin building that seamless smart home ecosystem.”
Launched in 2022 by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), of which Schneider Electric is a member, the Matter protocol serves as a universal language for smart home devices. It utilises a standardised IP-based communication protocol to enable seamless interaction between devices from different manufacturers.
Supporting over 41 product categories, ranging from smart displays to EV charging stations, Matter simplifies connectivity and allows consumers to integrate certified devices that best meet their needs, regardless of brand. Schneider Electric’s solutions were among the first to achieve Matter certification, with an increasing number of products in its smart home portfolio now offering this advanced level of connectivity.
Schneider Home innovations, including the Schneider X Series connected wiring devices, are available at major home improvement retailers and electrical distributors nationwide.
