Parks Associates is set to present its latest research on smart home technology and AI at the 19th annual CONNECTIONS Summit, taking place on 7th January during CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
The firm’s new study, ‘Consumer Perception and Use of Generative AI’, reveals that a significant number of households planning to purchase smart video doorbells and cameras regard AI features as a key factor in their buying decisions. This research, involving 8,000 internet-connected households in the US, examines consumer interest in AI and machine learning (ML) applications across various aspects of connected living. Increasingly, the ability to provide contextual awareness and identify people and objects is seen as vital in security and safety devices, enabling more precise threat detection and tailored responses for improved safety.

“At CONNECTIONS Summit, we will address how AI technology plays a crucial role across the connected home, including home security, by enhancing video verification and allowing for real-time monitoring and accurate threat assessment,” said Elizabeth Parks, President and CTO, Parks Associates. “Its ability to analyse footage and identify potential security breaches improves response times and reduces false alarms.”
The CONNECTIONS Summit is supported by sponsors such as Alarm.com, Kwikset, Shelly, and Ubiety Technologies. The event will feature sessions focused on the business aspects of the connected home, covering topics such as:
- AI in the Smart Home: Applications and Ethics
- Profitability in the Connected Home
- Smart Home Standards & Platforms: Who’s Leading the Way
- Demand for Energy Management Solutions at Home
- Navigating the Multifamily IoT Market
- Home Security: Emerging Trends and Innovations
“Generative AI will be a catalyst for growth, a critical new tool for operational efficiency, or a competitive threat,” said Parks. “For many, it will be all three.”
