SECO is happy to announce the availability of early engineering samples for its SOM-SMARC-QCS5430, which will begin in mid-December. This opportunity allows early adopters to evaluate the advanced capabilities of this System on Module, which combines state-of-the-art processing, AI capabilities, and low power consumption to address the requirements of IoT and Edge computing applications. The applications include industrial automation, robotics, smart cities, and surveillance, among others.
Powered by Qualcomm QCS5430 processor, the SOM-SMARC-QCS5430 delivers an optimised balance of performance, efficiency, and scalability within a compact 50 x 82 mm footprint. Fully compliant with the SMARC Rel 2.1.1 specification, it is an ideal solution for applications that require small form factor designs without compromising on functionality.
In addition, the QCS5430 processor offers advanced AI and camera capabilities, and high-performance computing – all while maintaining low power consumption. It also provides scope for field software-based upgrades of the CPU and GPU to unlock even greater performance tailored to specific application needs.
SECO’s SOM-SMARC-QCS5430 integrates the Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU. The Qualcomm AI Engine supports advanced on-device machine learning and AI inference, enabling real-time data processing, computer vision, and edge AI applications. The integrated Qualcomm Adreno 642L GPU enhances graphics performance, supporting resolutions of up to FHD+ at 120 fps on the primary display and up to 4K Ultra HD at 60 Hz on a secondary display.
Dual MIPI-CSI interfaces enable high-quality camera integration, complementing the processor’s powerful Edge AI camera capabilities. Connectivity options include USB 3.1, USB 2.0, PCI-e Gen3 lanes, various serial interfaces, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, and optional Wi-Fi and BT 5.0.
The module is designed to operate reliably in industrial and commercial IoT applications, with variants supporting temperature ranges from -30°C to +85°C or 0°C to +60°C.
To support evaluation and integration of the SOM-SMARC-QCS5430, SECO offers a development kit designed to facilitate the rapid prototyping and deployment of connected, versatile applications. The DEV-KIT-SMARC includes all necessary components for a seamless start-to-development process, featuring a carrier board compliant with SMARC Rel 2.1.1 modules and a suite of connectivity tools tailored for diverse industrial needs. With the DEV-KIT-SMARC, developers can easily adapt the SOM-SMARC-QCS5430 to specific use cases, shaping product features to meet their specific needs.
The development kit also facilitates interconnected application development with Clea, SECO’s software suite for IoT. Clea has features including advanced device management, remote over-the-air updates, and complex data analysis performed directly on the SMARC module, and communication to the Cloud as needed. Compatible with any Cloud provider, Clea scales seamlessly from small applications to large, widely distributed enterprise deployments.
