Globalstar, Inc. recently announced the introduction of GSatSolar to its range of Industrial IoT asset tracking solutions.
This development, realised in collaboration with Global Satellite Engineering (GSE), introduces a compact, robust, and cost-effective tracking device. It enables Value-Added Resellers (VARs) and customers to enhance their tracking software tools by tracking more assets in near-real time.
The satellite-powered GSatSolar is designed for remote IoT operations, allowing for an increased number of trackable assets. This leads to more reliable data in the field, potentially improving efficiency and supporting remote IoT autonomous data collection.
Jake Rembert, Vice President of Sales at Globalstar, commented: “GSatSolar is a cost-effective way to monitor assets remotely on the Globalstar LEO network and delivers a range of verified IoT data across IoT applications. The GSatSolar is a versatile solution that expands our satellite tracking capabilities. Like all our IoT asset tracking solutions, it is designed for low power consumption, long life, and high performance.”
GSatSolar is characterised by its durability, resistance to temperature extremes, and minimal impact on antenna performance. Its compact size offers several flexible mounting options for various industrial applications. Additionally, GSatSolar can be used for animal tracking, including monitoring livestock and wildlife for conservation.
The device features a solar panel and internal battery, enabling it to report for extended periods, assuming regular sun exposure. Its data collection capabilities include location, accelerometer, and Bluetooth sensor options. Data can be forwarded to Globalstar’s SPOT My Globalstar data management and mapping platform, which offers features like live and historical tracking on demand, alerts, geofences, and shared views, or directly to a VAR’s back office or customer endpoint.
