SolarEdge Technologies recently announced that its range of photovoltaic (PV) inverters has secured early certification and compliance with the European Commission’s New Radio Equipment Directive (RED) Article 3.3, which sets out new cybersecurity requirements.
Set to be enforced from August 2025, Article 3.3 introduces a regulatory framework for radio equipment, imposing cybersecurity standards on all applicable IoT products sold within Europe. PV systems using wireless connectivity will need to adhere to an extensive set of cybersecurity regulations aimed at enhancing network security, safeguarding personal data, and reducing the risk of fraud.
This new directive is particularly important for the solar industry, which plays an increasingly pivotal role in global energy generation and is recognised as critical infrastructure in many countries.

This announcement follows SolarEdge’s recent confirmation that its full product range complies with the UK’s Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) regulation, which came into force in April 2024.
