Kontron announces the availability of the µDARC ultra-rugged, compact, and resilient portable Microserver dedicated to mission-critical mobile applications in demanding defence environments.
Based on a high efficiency, high performance NXP Arm i.MX8X quad-core processor and integrating multiple I/Os, Kontron µDARC is the most compact, lightweight, and energy efficient Microserver solution on the market and is designed for harsh tactical Edge computing environments. Providing essential computing power and connectivity for the net-centric operations, µDARC is ideally suited for managing real-time data collection and transmission applications for wearable devices, UGVs including LiDAR, GPS, and cameras, UAVs for object recognition, path planning and telemetry aggregation, gateway/cybersecurity, and health monitoring.
Designed and manufactured in Europe, this highly interoperable pre-integrated and pre-validated mission computer is ITAR free and enables reduced costs and timelines when designing and integrating mission systems using modified commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions. This also offers the benefit of reduced time to market and rapid deployment with the introduction of new technology while also facilitating technical upgrades and refreshes.
Offering excellent power efficiency of less than five Watts, an ultra-compact, lightweight IP67 sealed enclosure of just 735g measuring 59.2 x 111 x 38.4mm, the Kontron µDARC is available now with a guaranteed production availability of at least 10 years. A dedicated long-term services package is also available beyond the end-of-life date, and a warranty extension of up to five years can be provided.
“Kontron µDARC ticks all the boxes as a micro rugged defence computer capable of delivering performance and reliability in a small form factor, safety, cybersecurity, life cycle cost and maintenance, and risk and time to market,” said Sébastien Vitre, Kontron Product Manager, Rugged Systems. “Its small form factor, robust and reliable design, light weight and low consumption are suited to any SWaP-constrained mission requiring the processing of data and connecting different equipment in the field.”
