Rohde & Schwarz will present a diverse portfolio of test and measurement and technology solutions for the mobile industry at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona, as part of the theme ‘Enabling Connections, Empowering Innovations’.
The company’s portfolio will be on display at its booth from 3-6 March, covering five areas that correspond with MWC’s main themes: 5G Inside, AI+, Game Changers, COnnect X and Enterprise Re-invented.
Rohde & Schwarz will take attendees on a journey, spanning the current and future landscape of mobile connectivity, where 5G innovations are paving the way for today and 6G is laying the groundwork for a hyper-connected world.
Special focus at the show booth will be on the transition from 5G to 5G-Advanced testing. To help manufacturers of chipsets, mobile devices and infrastructure equipment deliver robust and future-proof products, Rohde & Schwarz will present several setups featuring its CMX500 5G one-box signalling tester (OBT) and other state-of-the-art test equipment.
The instruments on display cover the latest technology enhancements and support all signaling and non-signaling R&D and conformance testing, as well as multi-
standard production approaches. For example, MWC visitors can experience how to perform FR3 device tests with the CMX500. For small cell and base station testing, the company will launch its upgraded PVT360A performance vector tester equipped with a new high-power option for up to 20 dBm RMS output power.
Furthermore, a high-performance signal generation and analysis setup for FR3 research including new software for non-standardised 5G signal configurations will be on display, featuring the latest R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and R&S FSVA3000 signal and spectrum analyser.
Rohde & Schwarz also supports network operators in their efforts to optimise the performance of their 5G networks and improve both Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE). Its mobile network testing solutions for comprehensive network benchmarking and analytics ensure stable, high-quality connectivity in constantly evolving environments. A product highlight is the new R&S LCM probe in combination with the R&S QualiProbe. This solution provides instant insight into network performance, making it easy to proactively identify and quickly resolve potential problems.
As a comprehensive system provider for 5G monitoring and testing solutions, Rohde & Schwarz caters specifically to the needs of regulatory authorities to ensure interference-free operations and adherence to standards. At the event, the company will present for the first time its enhanced spectrum monitoring portfolio covering the entire 5G frequency range that meets all regulatory requirements, whether balanced or high-performance capabilities.
New additions to this portfolio include the R&S CS-MC53 microwave converter, which extends the frequency range of both the R&S TMS transportable monitoring systems and the R&S ESMW ultra-wideband monitoring receiver to 53GHz.
The future of broadcast technology will be showcased with 5G Broadcast, which offers a seamless way of rich data distribution to mobile devices. This includes innovative applications such as venue casting, emergency alerts, and advanced solutions for terrestrial positioning, navigation, and timing. This solution is set to transform connectivity and redefine user experiences.
Paving the way for the next generation of mobile communications, the exhibits at the company booth will also offer a deep dive into the future of 6G technology. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore how 6G is set to redefine performance, intelligence and efficiency of networks, being not merely an extension of 5G, but a major leap into an era of hyper-connectivity.
Setups will focus on Terahertz (THz) communications breakthroughs and the company’s innovative test solutions to investigate signals for (sub-)THz communications, which will enable ultra-high data rates and unparalleled bandwidth beyond the limits of current standards.
Moreover, the company will underscore the importance of incorporating integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) into the 6G landscape. ISAC is an important technology candidate that will unlock new use cases combining radar sensor data with associated communication data. Reliable and repeatable testing in the laboratory aims at accelerating the research and development of ISAC, crucial for industrial deployment.
