Mitsubishi Electric announced the launch of its latest innovation, the R86TB, a high-performance teaching box. This new development is aimed at aiding users, machine builders, and system integrators in the setup, programming, repurposing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both industrial and collaborative MELFA robots. The introduction of this solution marks a significant advancement in simplifying human-machine interactions, thereby facilitating the creation of efficient automated operations.
The R86TB, a multifunctional operating and programming panel, represents an evolution from Mitsubishi Electric’s existing range of teaching boxes. It is designed to be cost-effective, intuitive, and user-friendly, enhancing the functionality for monitoring and programming a wide range of MELFA robots, including the latest models as well as previous generations. The device allows comprehensive control of the connected robot through various user-friendly screens, accessible via a large, high-definition 10.1-inch display. This feature makes the R86TB a valuable tool for users with varying levels of robotics expertise, from beginners implementing entry-level applications to experienced professionals developing advanced applications.
A notable feature of the R86TB is its 3D visualisation capabilities, which aid machine builders, system integrators, and end-users in planning, setting up, and programming robotic tasks in a simulated physical environment. This functionality is complemented by programming support capabilities, parameter inputting, programming interfaces, and a dedicated diagnostics section. These features are integrated with Mitsubishi Electric’s robot engineering software RT Toolbox3, ensuring ease of adoption and consistency in use.
Furthermore, the R86TB supports rapid and early-stage troubleshooting without requiring a computer, thereby optimising the uptime and performance of automated applications.
Oliver Giertz, Strategic Product Manager for Servo/Motion/Robotics EMEA at Mitsubishi Electric Europe, expressed excitement about the launch of the R86TB, stating: “The introduction of this new teaching box is a significant step forward in advancing highly effective robotic setups. The R86TB is an ideal interface for seamless interaction with MELFA robots throughout their entire service life, greatly assisting customers in maximising the capabilities of these machines.” This innovation underscores Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to advancing the field of robotics and automation.
