Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have announced a collaborative agreement with Samsung to focus on enhancing connectivity between residential and mobility spaces. This partnership aims to develop and expand Car-to-Home and Home-to-Car services, both domestically and in overseas markets.
Under this partnership, Hyundai and Kia will integrate Samsung’s ‘SmartThings’ IoT platform with their connected car services. This collaboration is designed to dissolve the barriers between living spaces and mobility spaces, enriching the driving experience before, during, and after travel. The Car-to-Home service will enable drivers to remotely control various home appliances through voice commands while driving. Conversely, the Home-to-Car service will allow users to check their vehicle’s status, control its functions, and manage charging before and after driving, all from the comfort of their home through AI speakers, TVs, and smartphone apps.
This seamless integration is facilitated by the organic combination of Hyundai and Kia’s connected car services with Samsung’s IoT platform. Customers will benefit from enhanced connectivity in their daily lives, with the ability to control digital appliances via touch and voice commands through their car’s infotainment system. Additionally, customers will enjoy the convenience of uninterrupted connectivity with updates available through OTA and USB.
