HomeOK has launched a home monitoring service, utilising cameras and sensors to reduce the three most common incidents in the home that often lead to large insurance claims. With easy set-up and installation, along with its ability to keep an eye on the home 24/7, HomeOK is a German-engineered service platform that is believed to save insurance providers thousands of pounds’ worth in claims.
Launched by Intra Technologies, the company is a start-up focused on software and technology, and is on a mission to provide prevention-as-a-service to customers and insurers around the nation.
Founded in 2020, Intra Technologies UK Limited is partnering with insurance and service companies to leverage IoT and AI machine learning. With the three most common claim events in a domestic household being water leaks, fire or explosion, and theft, their new platform HomeOK has capabilities needed to begin preventing the impact of such incidents.
Boasting advanced monitoring capabilities, HomeOK aims to help insurance companies save money on payouts and reduce their overall risk. “Insurance companies are always searching for new ways to minimize risk and reduce the number of claims filed by their policyholders,” says Alex Shepherd, CEO of Intra Technologies UK Limited. “It’s a common problem, with claims often costing insurance providers thousands, despite the fact that the claim could have been prevented quite easily. That’s why we designed HomeOK, to not only provide advanced protection against fire, leaks, and theft – but to help insurance providers and homeowners stay pro-active in preventing such claims.”
Built to last, the system is easy to install and requires no technical expertise. “Our system enables people to spot minor issues from becoming major headaches for everyone, whether it’s a leak, fire, explosion or act of theft. For the insurers who are looking for that extra reassurance, we provide a service-level agreement, individual brand key server, branded app splash screen as well as delivery and refurbishment. We have stock available in the UK for insurers that want to arrange protection right away.” Shepard continued.
The company also offers a UK-based support team, and the platform is powered by brand integration. “Offering a service that can support up to 40 sensors and four cameras, HomeOK provides event evidence sharing and identification by asset tracking, along with many other features and benefits,” says Shepherd. “The cutting-edge technology includes advanced sensors that can detect even the smallest change in one single household. The system’s cameras provide live video feeds, allowing homeowners to keep an eye on their property in real-time. It also provides instant alerts if any suspicious activity is detected, allowing homeowners to take immediate action to prevent further damage. This includes water, smoke alarm, and door and window sensors.”
Water leaks in the home account for 29% of insurance claims, theft accounts for 14%, and 17% of claims are caused by fire or explosion. With water sensors placed in the most common leak sites, HomeOK sends an alert to the homeowner as soon as water is detected. Residents can also be alerted when their smoke alarm is sounding no matter where they are through the use of their AI camera. Finally, sensors can be connected to doors and windows so that you are alerted the moment a sensor is activated within a 100m range.
