ANRITSU CORPORATION and LG Electronics Inc. (LG) announce the successful validation of LG’s in vehicle system (IVS) for Hybrid eCall operation, demonstrating conformance with the latest European standards EN 18052:2025 contributing to regulatory readiness and enabling continuity of emergency call services as cellular network infrastructures continue to evolve.
This joint validation was conducted using Anritsu’s eCall evaluation solution, which has achieved the industry first certification to the European standard EN 18052:2025 for Hybrid eCall. The solution confirms correct end to end operation of the eCall service chain across coexisting circuit switched (2G/3G) and packet switched (4G/LTE IMS) networks, as specified for Hybrid eCall deployments. The results demonstrate that LG’s IVS meets the functional and interoperability requirements defined for Hybrid eCall, supporting continuity of emergency services during network transitions.
Hybrid eCall is designed to ensure backward compatibility with legacy circuit switched networks while enabling Next Generation eCall (NG eCall) over IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) in packet switched networks. As European regulations evolve to mandate NG eCall compatibility for new vehicle type approvals, verification of Hybrid eCall behaviour under mixed network conditions has become a necessary step to demonstrate readiness for regulatory compliance.
“Hybrid eCall places stringent requirements on end-to-end interoperability across heterogeneous network technologies,” said Shinji Hoshino, General Manager of the IoT Test Solutions Division at Anritsu. “This validation with LG confirms the correct implementation of Hybrid eCall behaviour and supports conformance with the latest European eCall standards.”
“This validation demonstrates that LG’s in vehicle system is capable of supporting Hybrid eCall requirements as Europe transitions toward NG eCall,” said Kim Hong-doc, Vice President and Leader of Connectivity Development at the LG Vehicle Solution Company LG. “Collaborating with Anritsu enables us to verify end to end eCall performance in line with current European conformance expectations.”
