Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), the German SecurityTech company, has become one of the first firms to commercially deploy the SGP.32 eSIM standard, integrating the technology into Amazon’s eero Signal device.
The move marks a notable step in the development of next-generation connected home and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. G+D’s SGP.32 eSIM allows devices to connect to mobile networks without the need for physical SIM cards, offering greater flexibility for consumers and manufacturers.
The eero Signal, launched by Amazon’s smart home subsidiary, will leverage G+D’s embedded SIM to provide seamless connectivity for users across multiple devices in the home.
The collaboration comes amid wider industry adoption of eSIM standards, which are expected to simplify device management and enable new services in smart homes, wearables, and connected vehicles.
