Taiwanese supplier of AIoT platforms and services, Advantech has unveiled a compact, fanless digital signage player aimed at the growing market for smart city infrastructure.
The DS-330, powered by Intel Atom x7000 series processors, delivers 4K visuals in a small footprint designed for outdoor and public-facing environments.
The device, roughly the size of a hardcover book, supports triple 4K display output, including dual HDMI 2.0 ports with hardware EDID and a USB-C video port, making it suitable for applications such as transit hubs, drive-thrus, outdoor kiosks, and public video walls.
Advantech said the DS-330’s fanless design and industrial-grade durability allow it to operate continuously in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C. It can accept a flexible 12–24V DC power supply, and its rugged build aims to reduce maintenance costs in long-term deployments.
Connectivity options include dual 2.5GbE LAN ports, multiple USB 3.2 Gen1 and USB-C ports, powered RS-232 connections for legacy devices, and an RJ12 port for point-of-sale peripherals or sensors. Out-of-Band (OOB) management tools allow IT teams to remotely monitor, reboot, and troubleshoot units even if the operating system is unresponsive, helping to maximise uptime in large-scale deployments.
Advantech executives framed the DS-330 as a tool to enable “vibrant, context-aware content” in smart city environments, from retail spaces to transport systems.
Analysts noted that such devices are increasingly important as cities invest in connected infrastructure and Edge computing platforms to support AI-driven services.
The DS-330 will compete with offerings from other industrial PC vendors targeting digital signage, where reliability, compact form factors, and remote management are critical for operators managing widely dispersed networks.
